Personal:

I am married to Nathan Long and have two cute boys. I enjoy being a mom but running keeps me sane.=) Running is my passion and always will be. I was asked by a friend what I was training for and I said to be skinny. She looked at me (as we just finished 3 hard one mile repeats after I just got done having two crowns put in) and said, "No one trains that hard to be skinny." I said, "I do." To me working out is fun! I love pushing my body to new limits. I think if I had to do just mileage I would go crazy!

I ran with Amy today. As we were about to take off she said, "So I was thinking about doing 200m hill repeats today. Is that okay?" I must have had this look on my face because she then said, "Well just a thought." I recovered quick and agreed. I convinced her to use this trail that goes uphill between these two houses. This is no ordinary trail. There are stairs, steep drop offs switch backs, roots over grown plants, the sound of a stream alongside it, and boulders you have to run over. The trail is about 600m long and I have done hill repeats before on it. So we did 200m hard up, jog down, and turn around and repeated 8 times. It was pretty awesome...in a intense pain sort of way. I loved it!
